Read this if you're having trouble getting the dispenser to work December 16, 2008 J. Souza (CA) 108 out of 109 found this review helpful
Hi. After reading all the comments about little or no soap being dispensed, I thought the following info might help. In the spot where the soap dispenses, there is a very small plug which controls the flow which you need to gently pull out and release (not break off) in order to break the vacuum seal. This information is not included in the regular instructions, but rather is written on a small 2-inch square piece of paper in the box. I was getting very frustrated because I had "primed" the soap dispenser at least 30 times and nothing had come out. I noticed the small plug, and while looking through the box again found the small piece of paper with the additional instruction. After that, it worked great! I use a generic version of Soft Soap, and we find the lowest setting dispenses more than enough soap.
Excellent product January 21, 2010 B. Hall 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After reading the helpful reviews that point out how to deal with problems that some have had using this soap pump, I decided to purchase one with the intention of burning a small hole in the lid as suggested by other reviewers.
When the package arrived, the box that the pump came in was labeled as "the new" version of the pump, so it appears that the one I received is an updated and improved version. For one thing, the spout on mine does not have the slot that others have described, but rather a small plastic "pin" (for lack of a better word) that needs to be pulled down with either fingertips (or fingernails, really) or a pair of tweezers. The pin pulls a small section of the spout downward to apparently allow some air into the spout chamber for first time use. The pin and small spout section then return to their original position.
I had no trouble getting the pump to prime whatsoever. In fact, it began pumping soap before I had finished the priming procedure, so I actually spilled some soap on the floor because I was not expecting it to come out yet. I set the dial to the lowest setting for the smallest amount of soap, and there was more than enough soap dispensed on the lowest setting, in fact more than I generally use.
I did go ahead and use a hot needle to put a small hole in the lid just in case, but I don't know if it was necessary with this updated version or not. We've had the pump for about a month now, and have had no problems with it, and our guests have all asked where we bought it and where they could get one.
Hands have never been cleaner! March 28, 2008 Sylva Leining (Salt Lake City, UT) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased two of these hands-free dispensers and have not had a moment's trouble with either of them. After owning them for a month, I wonder how we ever lived without them. The one in my kitchen is especially useful after working with raw meats. However, I can't understate the importance of the second dispenser that is sitting in my children's bathroom!
A Germaphobic's Dream April 29, 2008 Melanie Palmer (Utah, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My husband is severely germaphobic. We've had a touchless garbage can in our kitchen for years and we love it. I got sick of him trying to pump the soap with his elbow, or worse, calling me from upstairs to come down and pump it for him. So, I looked into several automatic soap dispensers. Once this arrived, I put in the clear liquid soft-soap. I put it on the highest setting to release the most amount of soap; I don't think the smaller setting would be enough soap, so I'm glad it's adjustable. My husband came home from work and absolutely loved it. After a few days of using it, he asked me to buy more for each of our bathrooms. Today I purchased four more. It's a great product for any germaphobe, messy kids and normal people too!
Works Great! May 11, 2008 Samo (Pittsburgh) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this soap dispenser a few months ago from Bed,Bath, & Beyond & have had no problems with it at all. I believe you need to use a soap on the thicker side instead of thinner cheap stuff. I have used Bath & Body Works soap and it has been fine. I have bought them as gifts also. I think it is a unique innovative item to have in your home.
